UAI

New block will start tomorrow. Yeah the we have finished the Nervous System block. The 4 weeks flew by very very fast indeed. This weekend, I have 3 days as a weekend instead of two because I do not have any classes on Thursday. Should be using all those free time to study but silly me, I did not use it well.

WAKE UP NABEELAH!!!

On Thursday, Nazra and I went to Masjid Kubang Kerian to attend the talk by Ustaz Azhar Idrus. We have been planning to attend the talk for quite a long time ago but I have to cancelled it the day before because I have a meeting on the same night. Around 5 something, I got a notification from Facebook saying that the meeting was cancelled so we quickly get ready to go to the mosque.

I know the way to the mosque but since it was the first time for the both of us so we just follow another group of students walking in front of us. I was so excited when I saw UAI walking out from the door. Too bad the nearest television was not working so I have to watch the tv at the lower floor. The talk ended around 10 something and I am very grateful that we found our sandals in such a short time despite the crowd.

We were holding hands tightly when we walk back to USM because there were so many vehicles, cars, motorcycles, jeep, you name it. It was quite an adventurous journey especially when crossing the road and Alhamdulillah we arrived in USM safe and sound. I think we took shorter time compared to those with vehicles.

Here, quoted from Ustaz Azhar Idrus :
"Ambillah dunia tapi jangan dikejar"
"Sesiapa tidak solat, tiada Islam padanya"

-the crowd was so big that they have to perform Isya' prayer at the stairs. Allahuakbar!-

Winter Solstice

Maria, Nadia and I went to Winter Solstice event in Dewan Nurani last Wednesday. Nazra was not around as she went back home on the same night to attend her sister's wedding. This would be my first time attending such event and my first time eating Tang Yuan as well. What can I say? The decorations are superb as expected and the performance was very entertaining. Never say that future doctors and dentist can't dance, act or even sing. However, Maria and I skipped the event for a while since we have meeting for the trip to PUSPEN but we were still in time to have our dinner.

Too bad that we did not won any lucky draw on that night and even if this was my first time having Tang Yuan I can tell that it is kind of tasteless. Should be sweeter.

Barbecue

Nadia, Maria and I went to Aiman's house last night. There was a barbecue party at his house and we will never say no for free food. We went there with Aiman, Erny and Farah after Maghrib. His mum really cooked a lot of food for us and it has been quite some time since I came back from Klang so his house feel so hommy. I ate roasted chicken, prawn, cuttlefish, sausage and fried rice. It was so delicious that I can't stop myself from eating. I am the last person among the girls who stops to eat. We also had black forest cake to celebrate Ammar's birthday. Around 12 something only we reached our dormitory.

p/s : I really hate the scarf I'm wearing. Urgh

Flowers

Short post for this short break. We were talking about flowers and how sweet it would be if someone give us flowers. In my case, I don't really like flowers. I prefer books and chocolates but it is undeniably sweet to be given flowers especially for someone special on no matter what occasion it is.

I received my first bouquet of flowers last year from someone special during Noche De Amor which is the dinner for foundation in science and engineering students. It is specially made for me because the bouquet is different from other students.

Fire Drill

We got the info from the boys saying that we are going to have fire drill on Thursday night. Eventually we were planning for MaBIT on that night but we cancelled it at the very last minute because of the secret info.

I was too tired that night that I went to bed early. I couldn't remember what time it was when I heard the alarm rang. It has been ringing for quite a while and I thought I was dreaming. They shut down the main plug so it was so dark and someone is banging on the door asking us to come down. I just woke up and was finding my cardigan while my roommates, no one of my roommates was rushing here and there freaking out as if like we were really going to be burnt in that building. The two other roommates still have the time to put on powder and complain about the tudung making problem. It was really funny especially when everything is dark.

We gathered at Padang Kawad and lined up with the others according to the floor. Well nothing would have happened if we just continue our beauty sleep because what they did was only count the number of students and that's all. We can return to our room. Lucky for us we are already informed about the fire drill because there are some students who were totally unprepared and came down wearing pyjamas and kaftan.

After the fire drill, I started my revision and went to sleep around 5 o'clock or something and guess what, we all ended up missing the briefing from JPA since I am the first person to wake up among us and I woke up at 9.50 am when the briefing actually starts at 9.00 am.

Secret Recipe

It has been raining everyday for the past few days meaning that the winter season in Kelantan has started. It is so cold especially at night that I have to wear few layers of clothing with thick socks while studying. I like the rain but it has been very hard for me to wake up early in the morning. It is so comforting that I didn't even hear the alarm.

Today we had our lunch+dinner in Secret Recipe for the first time. I had Noodle with Tom Yam Soup, freah watermelon juice and a piece of Chocolate Indulgence. I have been craving to eat cake since like forever and now I am so full. Tomorrow, I will be having a trip to PUSPEN so I have to wake up early. I am afraid to sleep now that I am afraid I would wake up at 9 o'clock in the morning.

One more week for Nervous System Block!

Walking In The Rain

We were supposed to have our second quiz for WUS yesterday. However, when we were rushing to go to the computer lab as we were actually quite late at that time and suddenly Nazra got a text saying that the quiz was cancelled. Everyone were stunned for a moment. How glad I am to hear the news since I was not really prepared for the quiz.

So, since we do not have any other plan for the day and I am in desperate need to go to Mydin to buy my toiletries and biscuit, we had our brunch in Nurani cafe and headed to Mydin after that. It was drizzling when we started walking but the rain is getting heavier as time passes. The same goes when we were walking back to USM. In fact, it was much heavier that our pants were soaking wet even though we were not sharing umbrella at all.

It was a great experience for me since I love to walk under the rain but I don't like the part where I have to carry heavy things with me. Referring to the two packet of detergent that I bought.

First Failure

They said that our mentor is the one who will give us our result but then since my mentor haven't received ours and I can's stand the curiosity to know my result, I went to meet Dr. Suhaimi who is the Chairperson for MD Phase I. After English class, I went to Dr. Suhaimi's room. I was so tense and nervous while waiting outside of his room that even my teeth started to chatter. I went in after Hazirah and the rest is history.

I like talking to Dr. Suhaimi because of his fatherly character. He adviced me to have group discussion and do not try to learn too fast. What he meant is that the most important thing is I understand what I am reading and it is not the matter of how many lecture notes have you read.

Personally I know that I am going to fail in this exam but then receiving the news that you failed in the exam is something else. I felt like crying when I was walking back alone to my room but I held back my tears. In the room, I acted out as if my results is okay because we've promised that we will not ask each other about our result.

I met my mentor after the demo and discussion session. She gave the same advice just like Dr. Suhaimi did. After seizing Asar prayer, I called my mum and thought of breaking the news to her but I did not and ended up sleeping after we've hung up.

I promised myself that I am going to try harder and focus more on my studies from this very second onwards. I don't want to make my parents sad because of my results anymore. In shaa Allah.

Auto

- The button badges -

Guess what!!! Today, I drove an auto car for the first time!!! It really is much much much easier compared to manual car. I drove Syazwan's car because today we opened a booth during the Shoutul Harokah's concert and we have to take turn to seize Maghrib prayer so this is how it goes...

Najmi : Ko tau bawak kereta tak?
Me : Tau. *Wondering why he's asking that question*
Najmi : Nanti Maghrib ko bawak kereta Syazwan balik.

Luckily I can control my surprise reaction but am excited indeed when I heard that. Alhamdulillah nothing happened. Naem and I are both still healthy and alive. The sale are not so good but it's okay. However I have to admit that it really is tiring. I bought 4 button badges which cause RM2.50 each and can be considered as very cheap! After we've packed all the things, I still have the hope that they will let me drive the car back to Nurani. Hehehe.. But that is not what happen. This time we went back with Najmi's car. It's already nearly 2 am by that time. Super duper tired.

p/s : the dialogues above are not the exact dialogues but the point is still the same

Rantau Panjang

- a key chain I bought during WUS sale -

We were forced to attend the Kursus Keselamatan Makmal since the attendance is compulsory. It was held in DK4. The only part that I like about this course is FREE FOOD! Well who doesn't??

We, referring to Naem and I skipped the evening session because we have a sudden trip to Rantau Panjang. We went there with Syazwan and Fida. I never thought that I would do that actually. What should I say? There are a lot of unexpected things I did in Kelantan. We went there to take the stock for our booth that we are opening during the Malam Solidariti Palestina.

We went to Syazwan's house first which is located in Rantau Panjang itself. Met his family and a very cute cat named Kelabu. It was Naem's first time being Rantau Panjang and as for me it would be the second time. After we've taken the stock, we dropped by KB Mall on our way back home to find books. I totally forgot that it was Saturday so there is no plactic bags provided by the supermarket so I bought a box and wrapping paper for the sake of getting a plastic bag.

Chibi Maruko Chan

I have been very busy today from morning till late at night. It's not that I have been running around here and there, it's just that my schedule is full with activities. Early in the morning, while everybody is still curled up under the blanket, I have to go to the badminton court for the Klinik Futsal Wanita. They said that we were suppose to be there by 7.30 am but then when I reached the court around 7.45 am thinking that I was very late by that time and it turned up that I was one of the earliest to arrive. I hate Janji Melayu.

Then around 9 am, Naem came to fetch me because we have a meeting for explorace programme for FesKI so I got a chance to skip the clinic. We went to Che Din's shop since I've promised to met "someone" there. Truthfully I don't know who is that "someone". I have been messaging with him or her regarding the explorace and I have never know who am I messaging with but I am pretty sure that it would be a senior or to be more precise it would be "her". When we were busy chit chatting, "someone" suddenly appear and guess who that "someone" is? CHIBI MARUKO CHAN! I never thought that it would be a "he" and of all people it would be him!

At night, we have a talk with Dr. MAZA in Dewan PUMA. So many people came. Alhamdulillah. The topic of the talk is Kehidupan : Suratan atau Kebetulan. So can you imagine how busy I am? It doesn't sound like one I know but I am really hoping that there is a weekend without any activities.

Clash

I don't know whether it's a good news or a bad news. This morning when I log on to Facebook, Syahmi posted in Exco Kebajikan's group about the Temasya Nurani and our fourth project for the programme Sebutir Bakti Segunung Harapan. All of this programme is going to be on March next year and I know we still have a long way to go but FesKI is also going to be on March next year. The best part is that all of the programmes that I am being in charged with is on the first week of March. Three programmes to be precise.

2nd March - Hospital Visit under MPDN
3rd - 7th March - Pameran FesKI
7th - 9th March - Temasya Nurani

I pray that everything will run smoothly. In shaa Allah.

Itchy

It is afternoon break right now and my hands and feet are very itchy since yesterday. I don't know whether I have an allergic or because I've just change my shower bath. The problem is that the itchy part will turn red with spots after I've rubbed them.

Just now we had English class and for today's class we have group discussion as an assessment for our final. Three people in a group and my groupmates are Nazra and Nadia and we discussed about the topic "Online Shopping versus Offline Shopping". We act like we were in a talk show hosted by Nazra called The Nazra Show. Nadia is the owner of Gelora.com and I am an uprising female celebrity who have just done the shooting for my latest movie, Istanbul Here I Come. It turn out to be very funny and people never thought that we could be that funny.

Photo

We had our photography session today. My group was supposed to take picture with the repeaters but then since they have taken their pictures earlier so we combine with Group 3 and 4 meaning that I am in the same picture with Maria and Nadia. As usual, we have to wear blazer for formal picture and as usual it would be hard to find my size.

Currently I am watching a movie called Istanbul Aku Datang while typing out this post. I have never intended to go to Istanbul before but by watching this movie, I can imagine how romantic it would be to have my honeymoon there. In shaa Allah. *Dreaming* The interesting part is that Maria is also watching the same movie but she has already started crying and me? Hati kering. I don't know why but I find it hard to cry nowadays. The last time I cried was after the first SGD session. It is so not fun okay when you want to cry and you tried so hard to cry but at last you still can't cry.

BIG

It has been 3 days so far for Central Nervous System block. I am still trying to cope up with all the lectures especially when you have 4 lectures in a day. Forcing myself to finish revising all the notes before the next day lectures start. Besides that, a lot of activities are filling in my calendar. Trip to PUSPEN this 15th December, FesKI on March next year but the meetings are already starting and Hari Bersama Pengguna which I am suppose to be the Pengarah Program but I haven't do anything yet. Urghh all big big programmes. Owh, another thing. Today I wore my own white coat for the first time. Buttoned up the coat and I still feel the coat is big.

Horses

By 8.30 am on 1st December 2012, I am officially done with my presentation for WUS. I became the "Driver of The Day" today since we make a sudden plan to rent a car and go somewhere before the new block starts tomorrow and since it is a very last minute plan, there is no other car available except than a manual Kancil car. From USM to KB Mall then we went for a round in Kota Bharu and ended up in Pantai Irama, Bachok.

I have never drove outside of Andalas-Bukit Tinggi-Botanic area and here I am driving like a boss in Kelantan. Never drove for such a long distance as well so it is quite an accomplishment today. Despite the fact that we used the long route to go to Pantai Irama but hey, we get to see the Tengku Mahkota Kelantan's stables. It has been such a long time since I saw horses.

Smile

People said that I'm a moody person when I was in high school. Rarely smile and I have that "kerek" face of mine. I was even awarded "Fasi Paling Tegas" during Solferino Camp in 2009. Well I am not denying what they said about me. It is true.

That is why I've decided to change that side of me when I started my foundation studies. Alhamdulillah I think I am progressing until now. No more moody face when meeting people and when I asked my roommates here on their first impression on me, they said that I am very soft spoken.

And of course when I told my friends back at home, they would laugh out loud and said I'm just acting out and it won't be for long. Well, I'm not disappointed by their statement but I took it as a challenge. There is nothing wrong in changing to be a better person. Istiqamah in shaa Allah

WUS

Even though we are medical students, we have to take entrepreneurship classes as one of the requirement for us to graduate and there are a lot of things that we need to do for that one class. We have lectures every week, 2 quizzes, we have to make a report after interviewing a successful businessman, we have to open a stall and do a presentation on our sale on that day. Last but not least, we also have to do a business proposal which is very complicated as if we are going to be a businessman one day.

I have just done the slides for the presentation and going to present it tomorrow morning. My group is going to be the second group presenting and we have about 20 more groups after us. To make things worse, we have to wait for all the groups to present and then only we can leave the lecture hall. Hey, that's not the worst part of this thing. I think the worst part should be the part that this presentation starts at 8.00 am tomorrow! Even normal lectures start at 8.30.

Selanjar 1

My first Continuous Assessment also known as Selanjar 1 has just ended yesterday. I know I did not do well. As a matter of fact, I think I was very bad indeed.

It is my own fault for not paying attention in the class.
It is my own fault for not revising the lecture notes before and after the class.
It is my own fault for not making use of the demo and discussion session.
It is my own fault for not doing my best revising all the notes.
It is my own fault to start revising at the very last moment.

Now is not the time to keep regretting what I've done in the past. Instead, I've learnt my lesson and I couldn't care less about my results for the Selanjar 1 (still really hoping that I will pass the exam). I told my mum about this and she supported me and advised to put more effort in my studies. In syaa Allah mama.

Starting from the next block which is the Nervous System Block, I will give my very best and concentrate more on my studies. I have to set my mind that staying up late to revise the lecture notes are normal for daily routine and not just a routine only when the exams are approaching. Stay focus in the class so that my time will not be simply wasted.

NO MATTER HOW BUSY I AM WITH THE ACTIVITIES, I SHOULD ALWAYS PRIORITIZE AND MAKE TIME FOR MY STUDIES

New block, new resolution and new experience, in syaa Allah.

Puteri 201

Previously, before I start my foundation studies, I was quite worried about who is going to be my roommate, what she's gonna be like, how are we going to get along and so many questions kept playing in my mind but before starting medschool, I don't really care about it anymore. As quoted by someone, "Redha it ikhlas, pasrah itu menyerah".

Alhamdulillah, I got cool roommates. We can get along so well from the first day itself. To make things more interesting, we've actually met each other during the interview because our interview was on the first day (second session). My mum talked with Nazra's mum while Maria's mum talked to Nadia's mum, I've chatted with Nadia when we were lining up. See?? Somehow we were kind of interconnected with each other eventhough they actually arranged in alphabetical order.

UPU

I enrolled in this medical school on 1st September 2012. It is my first time being so far away from my family and I am the only one among my siblings who study in Kelantan. Never thought I would be studying here in the first place but still I am very grateful the moment I see this picture on my lappy's screen.

Luckily I was alone at home when I check the UPU's result because I can't stop crying after that.

Muqaddimah

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

This is my second blog. I'm on my way to private my first blog and am still thinking whether to open this blog to restricted readers or myself only. Whatever it is, let me introduce myself first. My name is Nabeelah binti Ahmad Murad and I am a first year medical student in Universiti Sains Malaysia. I made this blog because I want to keep all the memories while I'm still a medical student. It has only been 3 months since I've registered here but a lot of things had happen. I wanna try to record all those tears, smile, laughters, stress and all those feelings that can never be repeated again especially when we become a medical officer one day, in shaa Allah.
