First Day First Year

Alhamdulillah. Today is the first day in my second time being a first year student. It went well for me because I only went to the first briefing only. I went to the academic office this morning to take the bioethics schedule. Met Azwa, Farah, Ayuni and Rui there. Then off we went to DK1. 1 hour briefing from Dr. Zul and it's our time to introduce ourselves to our new friend. All the repeaters went in front and introduce ourselves one by one. Since the time was so short, we only have time to choose the leader of this batch. Valentine, the chosen one.

My comment for this batch? Well, I don't know why but I think they are a bit passive. I still remember those days where everyone was so eager to voice out their opinion and how the lecture hall was so havoc. Kind of miss those days actually. Based on my observation, it also seems like there are more non Muslim than Muslim. I don't know whether I am the one being mistaken but that is what I see from down there.

Overall, I hope we can get along together and I am going to pass with flying colours. InsyaAllah

Awesome Randomness #2

I never thought that I will abandon this blog during this holiday and tadaaaa 2 more weeks I will be flying back to Kelantan, my dearest second home for the next 5 years insyaAllah. As usual as any other holiday, I have lots of things plan for the holiday but it turned the other way round. I copied movies and dramas from my friends but only watched a few, planned to read RAM collection but read none of it. It is already half way through the month of Shawal. I hope I will be able to meet the next Ramadhan. Ameen.

Towards the end of Ramadhan, I was busy baking cookies with my mum. We only baked the pineapple tart and the normal chocolate chip cookies this year. However since the we cooked ourself the pineapple jam, it was a really tiring process. We went to the Klang Wet Market to buy the pineapple and it was raining cats and dogs by the time we have finished buying all the things and I have to make few trips to and fro the car to put all the goods inside the car. I was soaking wet by the time I'm done.

While my mum and I were preparing the jam, I purposely said to her that since I have to repeat my first year, so it will take a longer time for me to get married. Then she said, "Cepat ke lambat ke kalau tak ada calon tak guna juga,". Okay sentap di situ. Then she asked whether I have a special someone. Well, of course NO. I am proud of the fact that I have been single all my life. I even asked her to find my soon to be husband but she said no. Hahaha poor me. Before this, my mum was totally against the concept of marrying when you are still studying but I told her lots of doctors and medical students get married before they graduate so my mum gave her last word, "Kalau nak kahwin pun, biar larh waktu 4th year nanti," Okay mum, I got it. 4 years more than so insyaAllah by the time I would be 23-24 years old. Just nice.

Turning 20

This year would be the first time that I celebrated my birthday far far away from my family. It has been 20 years since I was born in this world. TWENTY huh? Such a big number and it is a new change since it start with the number 2. Sound like an adult already but I know I'm not prepared yet.

Nothing special this year since we are having our study week for the professional exam that day. Ergh, the perks of having your birthday during the study week. Quite a normal day actually and alhamdulillah no surprises at all. I was quite scared when the clock strikes 12 at midnight. Afraid that they will ask me to do something something but I just had a normal peaceful birthday wishes from my friends and ended up sleeping alone in the room at that night. T_T

What do I feel after turning 20? Hmmm, at that time since I was piled up with the lecture notes, I don't really feel anything but right now I know I need to make a vision. As I said in my previous previous post, I need to picture myself in 10 years time. What will I become, what will I achieve either in the work life and also my personal life. Something that I realized in Kelantan is that I am the type of person who can't live without early plan or else my life will be kind of meaningless in such a way that I'll just go with the flow and at the end of the day I will not know what have I learnt or achieved from what I have went through. So let us put on our thinking cap!

Study Week #3

This thing does not really happen during the study week. It was during the weekend when we have only 2 papers left which is MCQ. There was a carnival organized by TV9 in Masjid Kubang Kerian which is only walking distance from USM. To be honest, everywhere is walking distance since we have a very healthy lifestyle here that we walked everywhere except for place such as KB Mall or the airport. Giler?

Anyway, there was a talk by Prof Muhaya and we planned to go to the pillow talk session as it sound more private and thought that we'll be closer to her. However, I don't know how I totally forgot about the carnival the night before. I slept in the surau and woke up during Subuh just to continue my sleep in the room. Naem woke me up around 7 and asked me whether I wanna go and I just answered we'll go later. In reality, I didn't understand what she was talking about and all I wanted to do at that time was to continue my sleep.

I didn't remember what time we finally start walking. Off we went with Tasnim feeling so excited to meet Prof Muhaya. I brought a book written by Prof Muhaya so that I can ask for her signature. We were late as expected. We joined the "Tanyalah Ustazah" programme but since there were so many people, they still haven't start recording by the time we arrived. We got the backseats. Served us right. Eventhough Prof Muhaya seemed so small from our view but alhamdulillah the audio is clear and loud enough. Still, in the end I did not manage to get her signature as there were so many people.

Study Week #2

During the second week of study week, I started studying full time in surau. Since the surau is only few steps away from my room so there is not much difference anyway. There are few other people studying in the surau with me as well and what I want to highlight in this post is this unique rempeyek Ainul gave me. I am not a big fan of rempeyek but I do love eating one. Why am I talking like this right now? Okay, so the last time I ate rempeyek was the one given by my BM teacher. She is such a dear teacher and I miss her so. I did not have the chance to take picture of the rempeyek she gave us which is unique as well because it is made mainly of groundnuts that you can't see any part of the flour. Getting back to Ainul's rempeyek, it is so cute and tasty as well! Dear Ainul who I know won't be reading this entry, I love the rempeyek so much so please ask Ummi to bring more rempeyek next time okay =)

Study Week #1

I got a message during the study week from my housemate in Palam saying that she is in HUSM taking care of her aunt who has just gave birth. I promised to meet her the day after because there is no way I will miss the chance of meeting my housemate who I rarely meet and this chance doesn't come often. Being far away in Kelantan, I can't join all those reunion and meet my dearest Palam friends. Pity me because whenever I went back to KL then all of them will already be in their hometown.

However, since it is study week so we just meet up for a short while before I went to the anatomy museum. Not many stories to be shared as time is being very jealous of us. *direct BM translation*

No matter how short the time we met but taking a picture is a must. Well, actually my main objective is to make my roommate jealous. Hahahaha but I don't think I achieved my objective. =_=

Pinky Girl?

I was so in love with the colour of pink when I was a little kid. Normal girls. And as I grew up, I don't really wear pink anymore not because I dislike the colour but I just feel that purple is prettier than pink. But right now as you can see, my new layout for this blog is pink. I don't know why I choose pink and I don't know since when have I become this pinky girl again. Even the cover of my Blackberry and Note are also both HOT PINK in colour.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with this colour but I can't help wondering why.

Awesome Randomness #1

2 months of holiday. So I have lots and lots of free time that sometimes my mind will be wondering about random things that I have never thought about before. For example, when my mum was finding a parking space when we went to the night market yesterday I suddenly thought of how my life has changed since I started my degree. I am not talking bout my whole life has changed, there are still things that stay the same as before but what I meant is that starting a new phase of your life and being far far away from family at the same time really taught me a lot.

You have to be strong. You really have to especially when you join medschool. "Nobody said it was easy. No one ever said that it would be so hard." quoted from a song. Hey, that never work for us. Everyone has been talking about how hard medschool is but let us face the truth, all other courses will be saying the same thing about their course as well and believe me, all this hard work will be paid off one day.

Besides that, you must be really good in balancing your cocurriculum activities and your academic. Being a USM students, you must collect merits to ensure that you'll get Desa for next sidang and being a medical student don't guarantee that you'll get one. So you gotta do what you got to do but ALWAYS PRIORITIZE YOUR STUDIES.

I don't know whether all degree students are facing this but I found that I can't no longer apply the way I use to study during school days and foundation right now. We must be very active right now. So many things to cover yet the time is so little that procrastination is like commiting suicide. Okay, I exaggerate on that part but seriously if you put lots of note in your on-hold list, you'll be vomitting once you finish it all. Exaggerating again. You must study smart and study hard. Both at the same time!

Another one thing I learnt is that all of us have our ups and downs. Eventhough all of us are taking medic, it doesn't mean that everyone is smarty pants here. There are some topics that may be hard to understand so do not keep it to yourself and also do not be so proud of yourself. Taking medic doesn't mean that you are already on top of the world. The journey has just only begun. There are lots of other obstacles that you have to go through. Share your difficulties with your friends. The one you trust with. Don't keep everything to yourself. You can also tell Him. Allah Maha Mendengar. He is always there for you to pour your heart out.

Ramadhan Kareem #1

Indeed Allah is the best planner. I don't know why but I am so thankful that the my holiday starts on Ramadhan. Going to terawih in the mosque at night, hearing to the tazkirah made me feel like I am still in Kelantan. This heart feel so empty and my emotion and spiritual strength becomes very weak after coming back from Kelantan. Alhamdulillah, this blessed month is one of the factors that help me to recover and regain my strength. InsyaAllah I will give my all out, the best that I can in this second chance. I could not bear seeing my parents cried because of me.

Something that I wrote in SKB's blog but really soothes me when I read it again,

Bila Allah cepat makbulkan doamu, maka Dia menyayangimu,
Bila Dia lambat makbulkan doamu, maka Dia ingin mengujimu,

Take Note

Allah's answer is better than your prayers.

Malthum De Pafo

This is some of the pictures during our batch dinner before Professional 1 study week. I could not remember when was the exact date. The theme for this dinner is Masquerade and this dinner would be the first ever dinner that I was not eager to think about what clothes to wear, what shoes to wear or those things girls always thought of before this kind of event. I was just panic looking around for the mask and alhamdulillah my sister found just the perfect one for me to match with my outfit. It was totally unplanned.

To Infinity and Beyond

I have promised myself before that after PRO 1 results will be announced I want to sit back and plan my future for 10 years to come. Since the recovering is period has ended now let us look ahead. As quoted from the movie "Meet The Robinson", KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

End of 2012/2013

First year is over. Results for PRO 1 Medic 2012/2013 has been announced on 11th of July 2013. Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah for my result. I wasn't there when they announced the result because I was stuck in the traffic jam. Never thought we would be caught in such a bad traffic at 3 pm. I thought I have prepared myself emotionally and mentally for whatever result that I'll got. I've always prayed to Allah to give the best for me. It may not be good but I know that He knows what is the best for me. However, I can't stop my tears in front of Dr. Liza. The first person I met when I reached USM.

I failed in this exam. Dr. Liza said I was in the borderline list but still the final outcome is that I didn't make it into the list. I did not feel sorry for myself but at that time I was feeling very guilty towards my parents. They have put high hopes on my shoulder and what have I done? I went back home after the results with all my roommates sending me to the airport. Our last moment together. Thank you dear roomies. I've always imagined of what will happen if my name was not announced but laughing out loud in the car with me driving wrecklessly was never in the list.

Note to myself and my dearest sahabat who I loved because of Him,

Don't ask God to make your life easier, but instead ask Him to make you a stronger person.

Thank you for dearest sahabat who stays by my side. It is true that at these times you know who is your real sahabat. Ukhuwah fillah till Jannah insyaAllah. =)

p/s : Personally I think the words from Rakan Masjid sooth me the most.

IOP

One of the task for LSP 402 is IOP which stands for Individual Oral Presentation. All of us have to choose a topic and present it in front of the class for 10 minutes per person. My topic was "The Story of Genie". Thanks to Izzatul Nazihah Yahya for suggesting that topic to me and alhamdulillah I managed to pull it off even when the preparation was done at the very last minute. I received good feedbacks from my classmates as all of them have never heard of that story but it was quite disappointing when teacher slept during my presentation.

Anyway, Naem was in different class and she chose the topic of "Blogging". This was one of her slides for her presentation. *wink wink*

FesKI #4

This time, I would like to write about another FesKI's programme which is Rabbani's Concert which was held last night in Dewan Utama. What else can I say about the concert other than AWESOME!!! I was eally excited when the concert is starting and luckily I am seating near to the Muslimin's row so I know that I have to control myself. Even though there were songs which I've never heard of before but all their songs are good and have a good message to the audience.

I went there with Dian and Erny and it was funny when we started running when we saw a big white van passing by, thinking that it was Rabbani's van. The hall was quite full the moment we arrived that Dian and I ended up sitting near to the Muslimins' row. We bought blueberry muffin and mac'n cheese before the concert start.

Funny thing about the lucky draw session was that both Dian and my ticket's number were very closed to the number being picked out last night. What a luck.

During the interactive session between Rabbani and the audience, 5 people were being chosen and 4 of them were Medic first year students. Something we discovered during the session was that Aiman has a good voice and by that I meant Nik Aiman, not the other Aiman =,=''

After the concert ended, I got something to be kept since we did not take any pictures that night and I am so happy because of that thing. I ended up buying two more mac'n cheese as well with the small brooches since it was very cheap last night even the fact I did not really need it.

Camwhore

It has been such a long time since I camwhored using Nadia's note since Maria bought her iPad and Naem with her new Samsung. So, as one of the ways to get rid of the sleepiness, I took pictures of myself in the lecture hall which is something I haven't done for quite a long time.

Upset

We started Gastrointestinal Block last Sunday. It would take 3 weeks for this block. Usually, the schedule would be quite free and easy towards the end of the week but not for this one. Only on the last day of the block that we have one lecture and will be free from SGD by that time.

We only have one lecture for today and it is from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm because we have Community Placement session in the morning. As I know there were 3 groups who went today and I am being jealous of them. Mine is scheduled on the 6th of April.

I haven't cover the previous 2 blocks and with this packed schedule I am afraid that I could not catch up. Alhamdulillah, all the events where I'm involved as committee are over. All of them!! I am totally grateful for that.

At the same time, I am disappointed with myself because it is hard for me to wake up early nowadays. I will only wake up for the time of Subuh prayer. I have set the alarm earlier but I will just wake up to switch off the alarm and continue my beauty sleep. I hate being in this situation. Another thing that I am upset with right now is that I always slept in the lecture. Almost all lectures I can say, even during the demo and discussion session.

Mungkin Pasti

In two days, I received three news of people who passed away. It made me reflect myself on what I have done and whether I am ready if it is fated that I would in this one second.

Kahwin itu mungkin,
Mati itu pasti
Lalu mengapa asyik memikirkan yang mungkin
Andai sudah tahu ada yang pasti.

These are the pictures of us, the boys and the girls during a forum with Ustazah Fatimah and Ustaz Ubai. The crowd was amazing that night that the number of people reached 500++. It was our first time organizing a talk and the response are so impressive. Lots of space for improvement and together we made a great team. =)

Blood Donation

I donated my blood for the first time today! It was so exciting. I went to the Blood Transfusion Unit after SGD session with Elly. We got lost for a while when trying to find that unit and we ended up entering the place using the back door. It was so cool seeing all the machines in the lab. The doctor asked me to take my lunch first before donating my blood and an incident happened when I was having my lunch.

The process of donating blood is not painful at all and it was very easy for the nurse to find my vessels. She even have time to drink Nescafe before inserting the tube in my hand. I was so amazed seeing the bag filled with my blood. There goes 450 ml of my blood. Too bad I did not win the lucky draw so I just got a mug as a token. I will definitely join the next blood donation programme if I am capable to.

PADU

Pesta Pantun Antara Desasiswa USM also known as PADU. I applied to be one the committee members and was so frustrated when I was rejected. A few days before PADU started, Anis asked me whether I would like to join PADU to replace Ammar as liaison officer and after thinking for a whole day, I finally said yes. Even when I joined at the very last minute, it was a very worthy experience. I was very busy running up and down the stairs and setting up the place but it was very fun! Yeah, there were problems but we managed it well and I love counting marks after the competition finished. Alhamdulillah, Nurani won the first runner up. We lose to Cahaya Gemilang.

FeSKI #2

We were asked to fill up the feedback form for the exhibition and I was dead worried what will others said about me. I personally feel that I am not a good leader and sometimes being controlled by emotions, I am afraid that I have hurt others' feelings. Alhamdulillah, the feedback was good and I am really thankful to all the team members. Hope that you are being really honest when answering this feedback form. I am sorry if I ever hurt anyone or anyone is annoyed with me. I am a normal human being and I could not please everyone but I hope that all of you can forgive me for whatever I've done to you. I am trying to improve myself to be a better servant to Him.

FeSKI #1

FeSKI Exhibition is over people!!! I am sad when taking down all the things but I feel glad that I can tick one of the box in my checklist. One week doing preparation for the exhibition, everyone sleep late at night, it is tiring of course but it was a worthy experience. We got closer to each other. =)
